Vice President of Innovation and Technology
With more than 23 years of experience in cultural and environmental resource management, Mason has earned a distinguished reputation for his expertise in terrestrial and underwater archaeology, geophysical remote sensing, scientific diving, and public education and outreach. Mason is a strong advocate for new technologies and harnessing digital tools to improve accuracy and efficiency, including sUAS, digital photogrammetry, and other tools. Mason's cultural resource work spans projects across the U.S., South America, and Europe. His commitment to innovation is reflected in his contributions to digital archaeology, interactive museum displays, and award-winning public outreach initiatives.
Professional Highlights
Three times I have been awarded the E. Mott Davis Award for Excellence in Public Outreach in Archaeology.
The Texas Historical Commission has recognized my work with the Award of Merit in Archaeology Recipient.
Under my leadership, the Austin Cemetery Master Plan development team earned the American Planning Association’s National Gold Award for Urban Design
I served on the board of the American Cultural Resources Association (ACRA) and chair the Continuing Education Committee
In 2007 I conducted fieldwork on the oldest known shipwreck in Oklahoma
